New Delhi: After grilling Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde for his alleged involvement in the Adarsh scam, the CBI has now trained its gun at Union Science and Technology Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.

Deshmukh, who was the then Chief Minister, is not only accused of approving the proposal of the controversial Adarsh Society plan but also changed the utilization of the land.

According to a senior CBI official, Deshmukh would be primarily interrogated about the situations in which he gave his nod to the Adarsh Society and the reasons for changing the use of land.

According to sources, Deshmukh’s clearances enabled the Adarsh Society to go ahead and build 32 more flats. At the time, when these crucial clearances were granted Deshmukh controlled two key portfolios currently under the scanner -- the revenue department and the urban development department.

However, the CBI official accepted that the probing agency has not got any evidence against Deshmukh getting direct benefit from the Adarsh Society.
