Lalu convicted in fodder scam

Prasad was sent to the jail on Monday after being convicted in the fodder scam case pertaining to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 37.7 crore from the Chaibasa treasury during his chief ministership in the early 1990s.

Another former Bihar Chief Minister Jagannath Mishra, now under treatment in a hospital, is also among the 45 convicted in the case by a Special CBI court.

The court would pronounce the quantum of judgement against 37 convicts, including Prasad and Mishra, on Thursday. The court had sentenced eight of the convicts to up to three years rigorous imprisonment yesterday itself.
