Lucknow: The need for effective coordination between the government and the administration to achieve better results was on Wednesday stressed by Uttar Pradesh minister Mohammad Azam Khan.

"If the officers do not discharge their duties sincerely and honestly, it would become very difficult to give a concrete shape to the good intentions of the government and would make it weak," Khan said at a function here.

"The officers should realise their responsibilities and work in a coordinated manner with the government," the Minister of Urban Development and Minorities Welfare said, adding that this would help the government in making itself strong and result-oriented.

The people of the state had pinned their hopes on the present government to provide corruption-free governance, which Khan alleged was missing in the previous BSP regime.

Not taking any retaliatory action against those indulging in malpractices during the previous regime should not be considered as a weakness or lack of will power of the present government, he said.

All out efforts were being made by the government to convince the people that whatever had happened during the past five years would not be allowed to happen again, he added.

"The present government has promised for development and it will work in a well-thought and well-planned manner", he said.

Praising Akhilesh Yadav, Khan said the Chief Minister is young, energetic, well-educated and infused with modern thinking.

"He is fully capable to take the state to the new heights of development and he would certainly do so," he said.
