Shimla: The administrative work in Himachal Pradesh is suffering due to immense shortage of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in the state.

This is the reason behind the continuing trend of Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers being appointed at administrative posts in the state Secretariat as well as in boards and corporations.

As per the sources, the lure for getting a deputation at the Centre and the unwillingness to serve at relatively lower posts in the state is driving Himachal cadre IAS officers to leave the state.

Recently, Himachal cadre IAS officer Manisha Sridhar after withdrawal of the chargesheet by the HP government refused to work with the state.

Besides, the political pressure in the state is also seizing work performance of the bureaucrats already posted here.

Presently, 23 IAS officers are serving on central deputations, and other career advancement programmes in the central government and other agencies, both within and outside India.
