New Delhi: With adventure sports becoming the latest fad in the country, the leading manufacturers in the power sports are now pinning their hopes on Indian market. The companies producing off-road vehicles are going to make an aggressive strategy to expand their contours.

Polaris, an Americam firm, is ready to expand its business in Indian market. Presently, there are few companies that are manufacturing All Terrain Vehicles (ATV), Off –Road Vehicles and Snowmobiles.

The prime consumers of off-road vehicles in India are the companies dealing in hospitality sector. Besides, defence, police and forest department are also in the league with such customers. According to Polaris India, Managing Director, Pankaj Dubey, ATV’s and ORV’s can be used in areas infested with Naxals and other insurgents.

'Polaris India Limited that made its entry into the Indian automobile sector last year has launched ATV’s, ORV’s and Snowmobiles. Counted as world’s number one company in manufacturing ORV’s, Polaris starts its range from 400 to 900 cc engines. Dubey believes that the adventure sport vehicle market will grow in the coming future. He also claimed that the total business will reach Rs 500 crore within four years.

The Indian automobile companies are also planning to launch motorcycles that can run on any kind of terrain. The enthusiasm for adventure sports vehicle was witnessed during the fifth day of the 11th Auto Expo at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
