New Delhi: A day after suspending senior leader Ram Jethmalani, the BJP may now suspend another senior leader and Lok Sabha MP Shatrughan Sinha for backing Jethmalani’s demands for embattled party president Nitin Gadkari’s resignation.

According to sources, some BJP leaders may seek action against the Loak Sabha MP from Patna Sahib at the parliamentary party meet in New Delhi on Monday evening.

The campaign for the resignation of beleagured Gadkari had recently got fresh ammunition with Shatrughan Sinha demanding that he step down immediately. Earlier, Yashwant Sinha, Jethmalani and his son Mahesh had made the demand in the wake of reports of alleged dubious financing of Purti Sugar and Power Group, which was promoted by Gadkari.

The actor-turned-BJP leader had on Saturday said that he was 'ideologically' with Ram Jethmalani and Yashwant Sinha who have sought the resignation of Nitin Gadkari over allegations of corruption. "The issue raised by Jethmalani and Yashwant Sinha should be looked at seriously," he had said. “He (Gadkari) is a friend but a person occupying a responsibile post should be honest,” he had said.

Lashing out at the party high command for suspending Jethmalani, Sinha had said that there was no ground to initiate disciplinary action against the lawyer-turned-politician.
