Chandigarh: Close on the heels of Apna Ghar shelter home incident in Haryana's Rohtak, a controversy now surrounds a shelter home Bal Kunj in Chhachhrauli block in Yamunanagar district, from where a girl has gone missing since Thursday.

Deputy Commissioner, Yamunanagar, Ashok Sangwan, who is also President of District Child Welfare Council, on Monday said a three-member team of Child Welfare Council, Haryana, has reached Chhachhrauli to inquire into the incident.

He said a Daily Diary Report (DDR) was registered in this connection with the Police Station, Chhachhrauli on May 30.

He also said that since the issue was of serious nature, City Magistrate Pooja Chavariya has already been directed to conduct a thorough inquiry and she has been recording statements of concerned officers and officials of Shelter House, Bal Kunj, Chhachhrauli.

Meanwhile, INLD President Om Prakash Chautala demanded resignation of Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on moral grounds, blaming the state government for its alleged failure to keep a check on rising incidents of child abuse in shelter homes.

"After Rohtak shelter home incident, where children were subjected to sexual, mental and physical exploitation, there have been reports of similar abuse going on in the shelter home in Chhachhrauli...keeping in view these shameful incidents, Hooda should immediately step down," the former Chief Minister demanded.
