Jhargram: Taking the bull by the horns, residents of Rajpada village of Jhargram area in West Midnapore district not only braved Maoists attack but also chased them away from the area.

Well prepared with the traditional weapons, the villagers caught the Maoist group off guard through an unexpected counter attack.

Confirming the incident, Jhargram Police officer Rashid Munir Khan said, “We recovered 14 empty cartridge shells from the village on Tuesday.”

According to sources, Maoists had attacked the Rajpada village and started firing indiscriminately. However, in wake of the recent attacks on the village by Maoists, the villagers were alert for any such situation.

On a tip off by an informer, the villagers launched a counter attack and forced the Maoist group to retreat.

Few days back, residents of Rajpada village had taken out a motorcycle rally against Maoists and PCPA. It is believed that annoyed over the rally, the Maoists had attacked the village.
