Los Angeles: Pop star Christina Aguilera has threaten to file a lawsuit against a website which claimed that she abused her child.

A website published the photos of Aguilersa's son - Max- with an accompanying headline that implied that the 30-year-old singer beat him and gave him a black eye.

Furious with the false news, Aguilera's attorney, Eric Greenspan, sent a letter to the website threatening legal action, calling their behaviour "reckless and unconscionable".

"Christina is a wonderful mother and was not present in the park when Max fell and hurt himself," said Greenspan.

He adds, "To imply that she had something to do with this incident, without any investigation on your part whatsoever, is reckless and unconscionable."

The website later removed the child abuse reference from the headline.
