The chariot was offered to a temple priest in Ahmedabad. The man who offered chariot, Rauf Bangali, said they carry out the practice every year to spread a message of communal harmony.

He added it was an auspicious occasion as the chariot festival of Jagannath and Ramadan this time are falling simultaneously.

Since Eid is likely to fall on the day of Rath Yatra, Gujarat Police have stepped up efforts to maintain peace during the celebrations. A strong force of 20,000 armed men will guard the 138th Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath which will be taken out on July 18.
