Udhampur: An air-conditioned mortuary would be soon constructed in the district hospital in Udhampur. Remarkably, dead bodies could be kept safely here which would come up in the basement of the trauma centre and Rs 9.5 lakh would be spent on the construction of this centre. Remarkably as many as 4 dead bodies could be kept here safely. Apart from this, a post mortem room of modern style would also be constructed in Udhampur.

A proposal regarding this has already been sent to the health department and construction work would be started as the project is given a green signal and fund is allocated for this purpose. Remarkably, district hospital is being given a face-lift and a trauma centre of second grade is also being developed here by renovating the old building of the hospital.

Remarkably there has been no full-proof arrangement of keeping dead bodies for a long time in this mortuary which has the capacity of keeping two bodies at a time.

District hospital administration has started efforts to build an air-conditioned post –mortem house here.

In this connection, Dr Chandra Prakash, Medical Superintendent of the hospital said that a proposal regarding this has already been sent to the health department and work would be started as soon as approval is given apart from allocating fund for the purpose.
