However, Maken who is active in the national politics, is unwilling to take responsibility of Delhi's political affairs. According to sources, the Congress high command may ask him to lead party's election campaign in the national capital.

As per highly placed sources, the party is mulling to field Maken against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) convenor Arvind Kejriwal from the prestigious New Delhi assembly seat from which former chief minister Sheila Dikshit won thrice.
However, Rajauri Garden had been the traditional assembly seat for Maken, but this time around the Congress leader has to decide the constituency he will fight for.

It is believed that if Maken contests from the New Delhi seat, the fight will become interesting and boost the morale of party workers.

Though the Congress started to hold several rounds of meetings over ticket distribution, the party is yet to announce its poll campaign committee.

According to party sources, the Congress seems to be in doldrums over naming campaign committee chief in the national capital.

Sheila Dikshit is still active in politics but she is unwilling to contest elections anymore. Sajjan Kumar is another potential leader in Congress' kitty but because of his alleged involvement in 1984 Sikh riots the party cannot project him in the assembly polls.

Though, Arvinder Singh lovely is the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president but many senior leaders still intervene in the party affairs of national capital. Therefore, Maken is likely to emerge as the campaign committee chief in the national capital.

For the post of campaign committee chief, two names are coming up, one is Sheila Dikshit and another is Ajay Maken. But with the clause that the chief of the election committee has to contest the elections, Dikhshit's claim falls flat, as she has blatantly refused to fight the polls.

In order to arrive at conclusion, Congress general secretory PC Chako held discussions with both Dikshit and Maken. But both of them are reportedly unwilling to contest elections. According to a senior Congress leader, party president is yet to take final decision over it.

Maken is the most preferred choice for the campaign committee chief but if he refuses to take up the responsibility, either Subash Chopra or Yoganand Shastri may be assigned for the top post.
