Haridwar: In a bid to garner political mileage, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Chaudhary Ajit Singh on Tuesday lashed out at the Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh government. Flaying both the states, Singh said their governments are no longer concerned with public interest and rampant corruption can easily be witnessed in both the states.

“We will initiate a public movement shortly in Uttarakhand and UP to end the corrupt rule,” said Ajit Singh.

The RLD supremo accepted the party’s past follies stating that a few political decisions did prove costly for the party and affected the base of RLD. But now farmers all across the country have their hopes pinned on RLD to take up their cause, he added.

“Former Prime Minister Charan Singh always tried to work towards upliftment of the farmers in the country,” Ajit said adding that RLD still is working in this direction.

Highlighting his party’s past efforts he stated that RLD led the sugarcane farmers’ protest last year and thus farmers got a hike in the price of sugarcane by Rs 250.

“If farmers get a good price of their yield every section of the society will prosper,” Ajit added.

At the mention of Anna Hazare, Ajit said, “The movement by the Gandhian has created awareness among the masses and we stand by him over the issue of corruption and blackmoney.”

Calling Ramdev a businessman, he said, “The movement led by Ramdev was completely fake and full of lies and deceit.”
