Lucknow: Acting upon promises made during party’s campaign for state assembly polls, the newly elected SP government has started exercises on proving itself the real well wisher of the Muslim community of the state.

Akhilesh Yadav led Samajwadi Party government has announced to revoke cases against innocent Muslim youth and release them from jail including offering them proper compensations.The state government is also mulling over bringing a legislation in this regard.

In a press meeting held here on Wednesday, party spokesperson Rajendra Chaudhary said that SP government has decided to bring a legislation in-order to build a trust for Muslim religious institutions along with implementing the recommendations of Sachar Committee and Rangnath Mishra Commission reports.Akhilesh government has also decided to remove encroachment from Wakf land.

Along with other major initiatives, state government has decided to cut duty charges on daily consumer goods like pulses, rice, wheat and a few others and bring VAT rates on par with other states.

Party spokesperson further said that move will help put a check on the spiraling prices of food items and would give a big relief to the poor.

The government has also decided to abolish the promotion criteria of Schedule Caste employees set up by the then Mayawati government.
