Gorakhpur: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Monday met the family members of Sudhakar Yadav, who died in a helicopter crash in Uttarakhand during a rescue operation, at his ancestral village Ashrafabad in Sant Kabir Nagar.

The Chief Minister met Sudhakar’s widow Manju Yadav and his parents Mahanand Yadav and Durgawati. He assured them that the state government will make all arrangements of looking after the household.

Akhilesh also handed over an ex-gratia of Rs 10 lakh each to Sudhakar’s widow and parents.

During Akhilesh’s 50 minute stay, Mahanand Yadav urged the Chief Minister for a state government job to Manju and also to make arrangements for education of both of Sudhakar’s children in a Kendriya Vidyalaya. He submitted a letter to the Chief Minister in this regard. He has also demanded the building of a statue in Sudhakar’s memory.

On Tuesday, an Indian Air Force helicopter had crashed while on a rescue mission in Uttarakhand killing 20 people, including its five crew members.
