Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday distributed laptops among students in Hamirpur and Mahoba. During the event, the Chief Minister said that the persisting electricity problem in the region and the state could be resolved if the Centre agrees to provide sufficient amount of coal.

Known as the gateway of Bhundelkhand, Hamirpur is plagued by the problems like broken roads, illiteracy, dearth of drinking water, unemployment among many others.

The number of state owned and government-aided degree colleges are also very few as compared to the need of the local students. The lone college for women, located at the district headquarters, offers only degree courses in arts stream and there is no facility for studies in science. The area also lacks medical, engineering and polytech colleges.
