Lucknow: Revoking the decision of the Mayawati government, new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has given his Cabinet ministers the right to transfer government officials.

The new transfer policy of the government was approved by the Cabinet through circulation on Thursday.

It is remarkable that during Mayawati regime, only the Chief Minister was authorised to give transfer orders. Under the new transfer policy, all necessary transfers will be completed by June 30. Moreover, there will only be 15 percent transfers in a year.

According to the decision, Class I and Class II officials who have been posted in the districts for the last six years and in zones for the last ten years will be transferred

Within a week of being appointed as the youngest Chief Minister, Akhilesh has taken several major decisions and rolled back many policies implemented by the previous Bhaujan Samaj Party government.

He has also fulfilled the promise of restoration of student union elections in the state universities. A government order has already been issued in this regard. The elections will be held in accordance with the recommendations of the Lyngdoh Committee.

The Mayawati government had suspended student union elections in the state.
