The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister appealed to the Central government to cater to the needs of the state reeling under power shortage.

He further said that if the state is provided with adequate amount of coal, it will be able not only to combat intra-state electricity crisis but also to help solve the inter-state power crisis.

“We will also…be able to help solve the power issues of the neighbouring states”- he said.

Uttar Pradesh has been facing power breakdowns for the last few months due to coal paucity. The state is passing through one of the worst power crisises.

The shortfall of over 3000 MW of electricity has forced the officials to go for a power cut. The villages are getting electricity for less than 6 hours a day, while cities are receiving power for 12-18 hours.

Earlier this month, Union Power Minister Piyush Goyal had held a meeting with ministers of five different states facing similar power crisis.

Although Uttar Pradesh was left out of discussion as the CM along with a high-level delegation was on Netherlands visit to learn the nuances of city transport.
