Boston (USA): Asian junior gold medallist Anaka Alankamony and Aparajitha Balamurukan registered contrasting wins to move into the third round of the WSF Women's World Junior Individual Squash Championship here on Thursday.

Alankamony, seeded 9/16, defeated Olivia Fiechter of the USA 8-11 11-9 11-9 11-9 in 41 minutes while Balamurukan ended the challenge of Hong Kong's Choi Uen Shan 11-9 9-11 11-4 11-6 in 30 minutes.

In the third round, Alankamony will take on Canadian Alix Younger, while Balamurukan faces 3/4 seed Nour El Sherbini of Egypt.

However, Lakshya Ragavendran was not so lucky as she went down to Olivia Blatchford of the USA 0-11 4-11 3-11 in just 16 minutes. Saumya Karki also lost, to Hong Kong's Ho Tze-Lok 13-11 11-9 10-12 9-11 5-11 in 58 minutes.

Another Indian to lose her second round match was Anikita Sharma, who was beaten 4-11 3-11 4-11 by Egyptian Mariam Metwally.
