New Delhi: Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar on Wednesday said all efforts would be made to bring people from tribal communities to mainstream.

She made this remark when representatives of the people of tribal communities, who attended the Republic Day parade, called on her in Parliament Library Building here.

Lauding the spectacular socio-religious diversity of the people in India, Kumar said that Parliament is the supreme representative body that articulates the interests and aspirations of the people at large and works for the overall development of the nation.

Kumar expressed the view that the 64th Republic Day celebrations highlighted not only the military prowess but also the varied cultural aspects of the nation.

The Speaker also presented mementos to the guests on the occasion.
