Yechury of the CPI-M, and Owaisi of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen, are meeting the Mirwaiz at the tourist hut in Chesma Shahi which has been converted to a Sub Jail, sources said. Separatist leader Shabir Shah, who was under house arrest, has also been brought to the sub jail where the two parliamentarians are calling on the Mirwaiz.

Yechury, Owaisi and D Raja are also likely to call on hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani at his uptown Haiderpora residence in Srinagar in the evening, the sources told reporters.

Earlier, in an attempt to coax the Hurriyat leaders to join the current peace talks, top political leaders including Sharad Yadav, Sitaram Yechury, D Raja, Asaduddin Owaisi, JP Yadav tried to meet Hurriyat leaders in an attempt to restore peace in the Valley, but were turned away at every places. Hurriyat leaders Syed Ali Shah Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq snubbed national opposition leaders even as Geelani supporters booed them with anti-India slogans.

The all-party delegation headed by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh arrived in Srinagar on Sunday on a two-day visit to the Kashmir Valley in the wake of the unrest that has led to over 70 deaths in clashes since July 9.
