Greater Noida: After the Allahabad High Court annulled the acquisition of 156.903 hectare land in Saberi village for Noida Extension Residential Scheme, farmers of other villages are also planning to make a move to the court. The hearing of four dozen other petitions filed by the residents of Saberi and Haibatpur villages is still pending in the court.

The builders lobby of the region is baffled over the issue, and they are eagerly awaiting the outcome of these cases. The court judgement in Saberi village has directly affected three major builders.

Land acquisition is a major issue in the villages of Greater Noida. Previously, Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) has mitigated the problems confronted by farmers on several occasions.

DCEO Akhilesh said the problems of about 8000 farmers belonging to over three dozen villages have been resolved over the last six months. Farmers who were not convinced with the efforts of the Authority approached court.

First, Supreme Court cancelled the notification of land acquisition in the Makora Village. Thereafter, Allahabad High Court annulled the notification of land acquisition at Saberi and Surajpur and ordered the Authority to return the land back to the farmers.

Following which, farmers of several villages like Vaidpura, Roja Jalalpur and Chipiyana left for Allahabad on Monday. Farmer leaders Manvir Bhati, Rupesh Sharma and Satpal Chaudhary claimed that farmers had no other option than to move court.
