New Delhi: In a startling revelation by the Delhi Police, around 1,500 residents of Indirapuram, Gurgaon, Ganaur and Sonepat have been cheated in the name of allotment of cheap flats. 

Delhi Police's economic offences wing has arrested the managing director of the AJS Builders, Madhu Singh, and his family members for cheating people.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Economic Crime Branch, Harendra Kumar Singh, said that Madhu, her 80-year-old mother Kailash Rani and sister-in-law Geeta Singh were allegedly involved in duping people. Due to ill health, Madhu’s mother was not arrested, he added.

On June 7, Madhu was arrested by the police and remanded for 14 days. The police said, Madhu wooed people of Indirapuram, Gurgaon, Sonepat, Ganaur for allotting of apartments through advertisements. The people who were looking for their dream house flocked to the Gol Market office of Madhu to book flats and even started paying monthly installments.

Interestingly, Madhu was not provided any land from the town planner. When people started asking for the handover of the flats, she went missing. Following which the victim lodged an FIR in the Connaught place police station.

After the completion of remand, Madhu was sent to judicial custody till July 4. The police have sealed all bank accounts of the company.
