Amar Singh told mediapersons on Wednesday evening that he did not want the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to win from Azamgarh constituency. Amar Singh, who parted ways with his erstwhile mentor in 2010, joined Ajit Singh’s RLD recently.

His road show in Fatehpur Sikri on Wednesday, however, evoked a rather cold response. He faced numerous hurdles from district officials, who wanted him to observe the rules of the game.

The contest for Fatehpur Sikri seat has become hot with the BJP reposing faith in local heavyweight Choudhary Babu Lal.

Bahujan Samaj Party’s Seema Upadhyaya, who is the sitting MP, had trounced Raj Babbar in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.

The ruling Samajwadi Party has given ticket to Pakshilka Singh, the wife of Uttar Pradesh Cabinet Minister Aridaman Singh.

The Aam Aadmi Party has fielded Mahavir Solanki, a farmer, for the seat.
