It was not only Harbhajan who has made a comeback in Indian squad after a long gap. In past, players such as Sourav Ganguly, Zaheer Khan and Mohinder Amarnath had also staged comeback in national team after being dropped for several years.

Sourav Ganguly: Regarded as one of the most successful Indian captains of modern times, Ganguly was thrown out of the team but the left-handed batsman made a comeback in 2006 against South Africa. In his comeback match, Ganguly scored 51 runs in a low scoring match on a hostile pitch in Johannesburg. His half century helped India register their first victory in South Africa.

Zaheer Khan: The most successful pace bowler in India after Kapil Dev, Zaheer was dropped from Indian team during 2004-05 season. However, the left arm pacer also made a comeback against South Africa in 2006 and went on to help India win its first Test on South African soil.

Mohinder Amarnath: Born as the second son to Lala Amarnath, who scored the first ever Test century for India, Mohinder Amarnath is known as the comeback king of Indian cricket. Due to his forthright outspokenness, Amarnath, the hero of 1983 World Cup, was dropped from several times from the national squad. However, Amarnath had made comeback enough times in Indian squad with his sheer grit, application and concentration.
