Jammu: There is great enthusiasm among pilgrims for Amarnath Yatra as over 1.34 lakh people have registered themselves for the annual pilgrimage to the 13,500-feet-high cave shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.

In the first 10 days more than 50 percent have secured registration for the yatra. Till now over 1.34 lakh people have registered themselves for the yearly pilgrimage.

Over 70,565 pilgrims have opted to undertake the pilgrimage through the traditional Pahalgam route while 63,610 have opted for the Baltal route.

According to J&K Bank, over 1, 08,000 pilgrims got themselves registered from Jammu & Kashmir Bank, Yes Bank and from various branch of Bihar Central Cooperative Bank.

Over 26,000 pilgrims got themselves registered through Internet based e-registration.
The quota for registration through online and bank counters stands at 2, 58,000.

The Shri Amarnath Shrine Board (SASB) has done all preparation for the yatra which will commence from June 29 and culminate on August 13.

Meanwhile, religious organizations are upset with the shrine board for the time period of the yatra.
Baba Amarnath and Baba Budhha Amarnath trust have announced that the yatra will commence from June 15. It may create conflict between the shrine board and trust. Trust has started the registration process at its own level.
