Jammu: Here’s good news for the devotees planning to go for Amarnath pilgrimage. The helicopter fare for the Yatra has been slashed by 35 to 40 percent.

“The price of one-way helicopter ticket on Baltal to Pajatradi route has been cut by 40 percent and for Pahalgam route, the fare for July’s pilgrimage has been decreased by 35 percent,” said Naveen Kumar Chaudhary, Chief Executive officer, Amarnath Shrine Board.

In 2011, the fare for Baltal to Pajatradi route was Rs.2425 which has come down to Rs.1445 this year. Similarly, Pahalgam- Panjtarni route chopper fare has lessened to Rs.2355 from last year’s Rs.3495.

Chaudhary also hoped that the number of pilgrims will increase this year as helicopter fares have been curtailed by huge margin.

Global Vectra Helicopters Limited and Sumit Aviation Private Limited have been awarded contract for operating its services on Baltal to Pajatradi route, while for Pahalgam- Panjtarni route the Pawan Hans Helicopters has been given contract.

Shrine Board will soon decide on the dates for bookings of the helicopter tickets.
