Chandigarh: The 11 kw feeder of district Ambala will be the first feeder of Haryana where the electricity will be supplied on Punjab model.

This information was stated by Chairman and Managing Director, Haryana Power Distribution Corporations Devender Singh while talking to sarpanches and public representatives of village Sullar, Ahema and Bhari on Thursday.

Haryana power utilities have decided to supply power on Punjab model in order to bring down its Aggregate Transmission and Commercial Losses. Under the Punjab model, electricity meters are shifted out of houses of customers while conductors and transmission wiring is also replaced to improve the voltage and curb power theft.

The village panchayats have assured Uttar Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam that they would help in erection of cable and installation of meters outside the premises. Singh said that the detailed project report would be prepared by the field officers within a week and the work would be completed on war footing with an investment of Rs 40 to 50 lakh.

He said that the Nigam would supply power to these villages on urban mode if they help reduce the losses to 25 percent or less than these.
