Ranchi: The dream of 29 Schedule Tribe (ST) youths to fly high is on the verge of being cut short in Jharkhand. Undergoing a pilot training programme, these youngsters find themselves in a piquant position as the training provider company Sai Flytech Aviation Private Limited has not only alleged them of indiscipline but also threatened to stop any further training to these students.

Blaming the youths for breach of discipline, the Sai Flytech has sent notice to the Jharkhand Social Welfare Department for curtailing of the training programme. Director (Administration) SK Beniwal, Flytech Aviation Private Limited, had written a letter to the Welfare Department on October 27 in this regard.

Under the scheme for year 2008-09, the youths falling under the BPL category had been selected in July 2008 on the basis of a written test for the aviation training.

Last year, Sai Flytech had been given this responsibility. For the 18-month training programme, an amount of Rs 22 lakh was to be spent on each candidate.

Now the Social Welfare Department is in a mood to hold discussion with the company to resume the training programme.

Earlier, the Jharkhand government had made contract with the Hyderabad based company ‘Spica’ to provide aviation training to the selected candidates. They visited Hyderabad but the plan did not fructify as the Spica had no aircraft.
