Lucknow: The amendments in the Child Care Leave with a few conditions have got an approval from the Council of Ministers which also decided that it should not be sought as a right.

Laying down certain conditions, the Council said the leave cannot be availed without the prior information and added that it would be treated as an earned leave (EL). The person who wants to avail Child Care Leave can get it only if she does not have any outstanding EL, the proposal said.

Earlier, the Central Government has already given its nod to Child Care Leave with a few conditions on September 7, 2010.

According to the Council of Ministers’ decision, the leave cannot be availed for more than three times in a calendar year (January to December) and will not be given for less than fifteen days.

A woman can avail the Child Care Leave for only 730 days i.e., for two years in her entire tenure of work. Under the recommendations of the sixth pay commission, teachers of the aided schools along with women in the government services can avail this benefit. The non-teaching staffs of the technical education institutes are also eligible for this leave.

Mothers who have adopted child can also take this leave.
