The company had been selling the beer named--Gandhi-Bot-- from last five years. The can features a cartoon image, depcting a robot figure of Father of Nation Mahatma Gandhi.

The company's move came after a Hyderabad court issued a notice saying that it  had 'insulted' Gandhi and also offends the Indian sentiment and it is punishable under Indian laws.

The court order was issued after a lawyer filed a petition saying that Gandhi's image on the alcohol cans was 'condemnable'.

"Our intent is not to offend anyone but rather pay homage and celebrate a man who we respect greatly,'' the company wrote on a social networking site.
