The judge had on May 9, which was the first day of hearing in this case after it was transferred from Gujarat to Mumbai, asked him to appear in front of the CBI court on May 23.

Shah, who along with Modi travelled to Delhi from Gujarat on Thursday, has the option of filing an exemption plea in the Mumbai court in this case.

Largely attributed for BJP’s stunning electoral show in Uttar Pradesh where the party won 73 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats, Shah is accused of consenting to the killing of Tulsiram Prajapati in 2006 after his master Sohrabuddin Sheikh, who was a gangster, was slayed in 2005.

Shah was arrested in the year 2010 in this case but was released after three months.
