According to sources, all the chief ministers of BJP-ruled states have also given their nod to the anointment of former Gujarat minister as chief of the ruling  dispensation at Centre.

A formal approval from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) is being awaited and Shah may be handed over the responsibility prior to the commencement of Budget Session in Parliament.

Shah’s name was already making rounds after Rajnath Singh joined Modi Cabinet.

Sources say that when the matter was taken up for deliberation among various chief ministers, everyone shook their head in approval.

Most of the top leaders of the party believe that Shah is the most competent face if seen from the context of next elections. The sources also said that during an internal meeting, the Sangh also showed thumbs up to Shah’s name.

The Sangh meeting is also underway at Dhar in Madhya Pradesh. Meanwhile, most of the BJP leaders are of the opinion that no delay should be made in formally announcing Shah’s name as the next party chief.

Buzz is also there Shah may be officially named the BJP president in the coming days and should any problem arises, the decision could be deferred till Budget Session.

Assembly elections are slated to be held in a few states, including Haryana and Maharashtra, in September and October.

If the decision is pushed back, the poll preparation on these states may get affected. At the same time, it also needs to be noted that BJP is out of power in Maharashtra for the past 15 years and for a decade in Haryana.

Taking all these factors into consideration, a major section of the party believes that the announcement on Shah’s name should be made before the commencement of Budget Session.
