The 71-year-old megastar was given the award by veteran actor Shatrughan Sinha and filmmaker Vidhu Vinod Chopra. “The grace and honour with which colleagues and friends, and all those behind the scene workers, commemorate the 45 years of my existence in this wonderful world of films, can never have sufficient words to fill that immortal cup of gratitude," Amitabh posted on his blog on Wednesday.

He said it was an ‘awkward moment’ for him to go on stage and say a few words after receiving the award.

"Perhaps it is easier for those that express, it certainly is not the most easiest for him that has to sit in not too great a distance, to listen and wait for that call from the stage to come up and get it! Get the reward," Big B posted.

The Screen Awards, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan, was held in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The awards function will be aired on Life OK channel on January 25.
