Nadaun: The Himachal Pradesh (HP) police on Wednesday arrested an Amritsar native for allegedly duping people after promising them plum postings in Railways.

The HP High Court has sent the accused on the police remand till September 20. The arrested have been identified as Amar Sharma.

One Asha Devi had informed the police team about the malicious activities of Sharma. She revealed to the cops that Sharma had duped her of Rs 1 lakh after assuring a job for her son in Railway Department.

However, taking the amount Sharma vanished in the thin air and the efforts of Asha to trace him vent in vain. She said, “We have been trying to contact Sharma but his mobile was repeatedly found switch off.”

Police Superintendent Kuldeep Sharma said prima facie it appeared that the accused has cheated money from five more people.

“Police is investigating the entire episode and only after getting the detailed report we will be in a condition to comment further,” Sharma told the reporters.
