Shimla: Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal defamation petition hearing against Union Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma has been postponed till June 1 in the matter of alleged corruption allegations leveled by the latter in 2003.

Anand Sharma said, “The reporters misquoted him when he addressed a press conference in Badog in 2003.” “Prem Kumar is intelligent politician. I have great respect for him,” Anand Sharma in his reply said.

The lawyer of Anand Sharma on Saturday submitted reply of the 17 questions to Chief Judicial Magistrate Pradeep Semwal.

In 2003, the media persons did not publish the press release accordingly, said Anand Sharma. He further said, “I merely spoke on the issue of corruption. I had urged Prem Kumar Dhumal to issue a clarification on the charges of corruption slapped on him as he was holding a constitutional position. He should bring transparency in his administration as some of his ministers and opposition party had leveled allegations in the chargesheet submitted to the Governor.”

The Congress party had made Anand Sharma the election in-charge of Himachal Pradesh in 2003 Assembly polls.
