"In his demise, BCCI lost an able Administrator and was a driving force for many of the Indian Cricketers during late 80's and 90's," ACA general secretary G. Ganga Raju said in a Press release on Saturday.

The former India wicketkeeper, Mantri (92) died following a heart attack at a private clinic in Mumbai on Friday.

Mantri, who was Sunil Gavaskar's uncle, was a national selector from 1964 to 1968 and the Mumbai Cricket Association President from 1988 to 1992.

He was also manager of the Indian team on the England tour of 1990, and served as BCCI treasurer between 1990 and 1992.

ACA president DV Subba Rao and other members have also expressed grief over Mantri's demise.
