"A number of steps will be implemented to transform Andhra Pradesh into a drought-free state," Naidu said while addressing Collectors of 13 districts and Superintendent of Police through video-conference.

"Steps are afoot to curb the wastage of Godavari water, as it will be diverted to irrigation sources, tanks and rivers in Rayalaseema region, to solve problems of drinking water and irrigation. This water will also help during the rainy season," he said.
"There is a need to link water from Krishna and Godavari rivers to various tanks and rivers in the state. Since the last 30 years as much as 3,000 TMC of Godavari water has been going into the sea every year unutilised," he said.
He directed the officials to construct check dams and percolation tanks for the optimum use of rain water. Among other things, Naidu also asked the officials to take necessary measures to curb swine flu in the state.
