"Nallari Kiran Kumar Reddy, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, submitted his resignation to the Governor. The Governor, while accepting the resignation with effect from 19-2-2014, requested Reddy and his colleagues in the Council of Ministers to continue in office till alternative arrangements are made," a Raj Bhavan communiqué said.

The official communication ends the confusion for the past two days over the status of the resignation and the status of the Council of Ministers.

Reddy had submitted his resignation to the Governor on February 19 in protest against the Centre's decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh.

The formation of Telangana state now awaits the formal nod of President.
