New Delhi: Having recuperated from his illness, social activist Anna Hazare is all set to kickstart his public awareness campaign on Lokpal from Friday.

As per the new itinerary of his campaign, Hazare will hold his first public meeting in Goa on May 13 after which he will hold meetings in Assam, Orissa, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Hazare will also tour Uttar Pradesh apart from Bihar and Gujarat. He had praised both Nitish Kumar and Narendra Modi for the development work undertaken in their regime.

However, he has made it clear that no political party should take advantage of his name.

Hazare’s close associate Manish Sisodia said that immediately after Hazare was declared fit by the doctors, the Gandhian asked his supporters to restart the campaign.

Last month, after the government agreed to form the joint committee to draft the Lokpal Bill, the social activist had started his awareness campaign from Uttar Pradesh. However, after falling ill, he addressed those gatherings through video conferencing and phone.

His campaign in UP also had political repercussions as the state government withdrew the permission of to hold a programme on Lucknow university campus.

Terming the entire controversy as baseless, Manish said that the programme was neither for nor against the Mayawati government.

Justifying the awareness campaign, Arvind Kejriwal, one of the civil society representatives on Lokpal panel, said that Anna’s programmes are aimed at thanking people for their support to his movement and make them aware about the Lokpal Bill.
