New Delhi: After making a strong impact through the anti-corruption crusade, Gandhian Anna Hazare is also likely to play an important role in the draft of land acquisition bill.

The Chairperson of Parliamentary Standing Committee for Rural Development Ministry, Sumitra Mahajan has announced to consult Hazare before arriving on any conclusion.

While talking to Jagran, Mahajan said “Although the Ministry is in hurry, but the Standing Committee will do extensive research on this important issue and discuss it with Hazare before finalising the draft.”

Hazare and his team have already expressed their concerns over the smoldering issue and have constantly raised the demand for an effective Land Acquisition Bill. Hazare wants Gram Sabha's consent for land acquisition as mandatory factor for acquiring land.

In a bid to pass the bill in the winter session of the Parliament, Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh on Thursday met the Standing Committee Chairperson to discuss the final bill.

Earlier, in an attempt to table the bill in the monsoon session the Rural Ministry had prepared the bill within 55 days without assaying the vital facts.
