Lucknow: The Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) on Monday threatened to launch an agitation in Uttar Pradesh if the state government did not announce support price for sugarcane by December 10.
"If the state government failed to announce the support price for sugarcane by December 10, the RLD will be left with no other option but to launch an agitation," UP RLD president Munna Singh Chauhan told reporters in Lucknow.
The SP government had not initiated any steps for the welfare of sugarcane and potato farmers till date, he said. In November, the RLD had raised the issue of delay in the announcement of sugarcane support price both in the state assembly and outside, Chauhan said.
The delay was not only harming farmers but also development of the state, he said.
