Muzaffarnagar, Feb 1 (Agencies): For allegedly defying Uttar Pradesh government’s order, ten paper mills were raided and 25 digesters were sealed by a team of anti-pollution officers on Tuesday. The government had previously ruled to stop their use.

In order to prevent expulsion of waste in the Ganga River till the end of the ongoing Magh mela in Allahabad, the state government had prohibited the use of digesters in the district.

"The team raided more than ten paper mills and found them using digesters. Twenty-five digesters of ten paper mills have been sealed. This step has been taken on the direction of the state government in view of magh mela in Allahabad," assistant pollution officer Sunil Kumar said.

Magh mela is a month-long annual gathering held in Allahabad from January to February.
