Raipur: Sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau in Chhattisgarh on Wednesday raided the houses of state official and unearthed disproportionate assets worth over Rs seven crore, officials said.

Additional Director General of Police (ACB), D M Awasthi said their team carried out raids at the houses of Water Resources Department's assistant engineer, Purshottam Agarwal here and in Baloda Bazar district (where he is posted) and found illegal assets worth Rs 7,13,16,000.

Awasthi said he had been receiving complaints since a long time about Agarwal "amassing wealth by corrupt means" following which they obtained search warrants and conducted the raids.

The unearthed assets include three houses worth Rs one crore each and one of Rs 50 lakh in his son and wife's name respectively. Besides, ornaments and cash were also recovered, officials said, adding a case has been registered against Agarwal under Prevention of Corruption Act.
