"Demonstrations demanding the closure of Kudankulam plant will be held Aug 5," Vaiko said. He added that local people have been protesting against the project for over 700 days now but the government has not heeded to their demands.

The protest will be organised by the Anti-Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project People's Federation, which has also demanded withdrawal of cases filed against the anti-KNPP protesters.
Apart from the MDMK, Manitheneya Makkal Katchi and some other outfits will participate in the protest Aug 5.
