Bangalore: The Anti-Naxal Force has been entrusted the task of investigating the cause of death of a man, whose bullet ridden decomposed body was found near Hebri village, Karnataka Home Minister R Ashoka said here on Thursday.

Speaking to reporters here, he said a preliminary enquiry had revealed that the 50-year old man was shot dead. The ANF investigation would have to ascertain whether Naxals killed him or it was the handiwork of some others, he said.

The Minister said the man was not a police informer, as alleged by a Naxal group.

The man is suspected to have been abducted by a Naxal group five days ago, following which ANF intensified combing operations in the forest area adjoining Hebri.
