Apple currently operates in India through two key distributors - Redington and Ingram - who then supply the products to regional distributors, multi-product trade channels, Apple Premium Re-seller stores and Apple Authorized Re-seller outlets.

A franchise model is likely to be adopted and could be spearheaded by Redington, the report said. Redington surged to record on Apple's India push report. It jumps 12.2 percent at all-time high of Rs 147.75.

Apple Inc has already started the sale of iPhone 6 series at starting price of Rs 53,500 in India. Both iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus come in three versions in terms of storage: 16 GB, 64 GB and 128 GB.

Prices of iPhone 6 are in the range of Rs.53,500 to Rs.80,500 per unit. For iPhone 6 16 GB, price is Rs.53,500, iPhone 6 64 GB for Rs.62,500, iPhone 6 128 GB will be for Rs.71,500.

Authorized distributors of iPhone are Redington, Ingram Micro, Rashi Peripherals and Reliance. The official price of iPhone 6 is lower compared with the price at which vendors at e-commerce are selling the phone.

iPhone 6 series in India is priced 10-17 percent higher compared with its retail price in the US. Amazon website showed that iPhone 6 is selling for around $750, including shipping cost, in the US which amounts to about Rs.46,000.

All the six models of iPhone 6 series are available across retail stores.

The two models are different in terms of their size. While iPhone 6 has 4.7 inch screen, iPhone 6 plus has 5.5 inch display. Compared with a thickness of 7.6 mm of iPhone 5S, the sixth generation has a thickness of 6.9 mm (iPhone 6) and 7.1 mm (iPhone 6 Plus), respectively. Both the models have 8 megapixel camera and 1.2 megapixel front camera. Both these phones support 2G, 3G and 4G network.
