New Delhi: All the eyes are on the Vasant Kunj flats among the 16,000 flats that Delhi Development Authority (DDA) is going to allot on April 19 through a draw scheme.

Five hundred applicants will have to wait for the allotment of Vasant Kunj flats. Under the scheme, out of 2700 flats, the construction of 1900 flats has not been completed so far. If the work continues, only 1400 flats will be ready for occupancy by September-October.

However, recently four new companies confronted with the DDA officials, halting the construction of 500 flats which will now be in no position for allotment till December.

According to the DDA scheme, 1285 flats of one-room set, 548 flats of two- room set and 876 flats of three-room set have to be allotted to the applicants under the A- category. The C- Category has five flats while 80 flats are under D- category. Total number of flats is 2794 in Vasant Kunj.

Except 804 flats meant for the technical staffs of Commonwealth Games (CWG) Organizing Committee, the construction of 1990 flats is going on, while 590 flats are likely to be ready by the next year.

Earlier, the Brahamputra and Mehta & Company were assigned to construct 590 flats, but the DDA officials kept this work under the ‘workaward’ category for their vested interest. Sources said the ‘workaward’ category comprises the favorite companies of the officials.
