New Delhi: The appointment for the sensitive posts has once again come under the lens after AP Pathak was removed from the post of Private Secretary to the Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar after CBI raided his premises in connection with a disproportionate assets case on Friday.

Pathak was removed on Friday from his post after the CBI raid.

Generally the parent cadre of the official is consulted before the appointment to sensitive posts and the additional information are sought from the CVC or the Intelligence Bureau.

These norms were clearly flouted in the case of appointment of AP Pathak as the PS to the Speaker.

However, the office of the Lok Sabha Speaker made it clear that the Road and Highways Ministry has relieved Pathatk from Superintending Engineer (Planning) before his appointment to the post of PS to the Speaker.

Distancing itself from the entire episode, Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid said the CBI is an independent agency, which is free to take appropriate action against anybody on the basis of evidence.
