New Delhi: Ministry of Defence has allowed the trainee armed personnel posted in the Naxal affected areas to resort to firing in self-defence.

With a new unit having been established in Chhattisgarh, the Army headquarters has asked the Ministry to provide guidelines for self defence in the face of any Naxal attack. With this demand, “Standard Operating Procedure” has been given to the Army.

Defence Minister AK Antony said on Tuesday that he has provided them “standard operating procedure” to face the Naxal attack.

It should be noted that the Army has set up a field firing range and a training camp in Narayangarh of Chhattisgarh.

Before this, Indian Air Force (AIR) also demanded for guidelines for self defence in the Naxal affected areas.
